UL Laboratories
Over the years UL has developed and published 1200 Standards for Safety. Many of these are recognized by consumer safety organizations. These standards are constantly under review and revision by UL.
UL is an independent laboratory with expertise in fire-rating and burglary ratings. The Underwriters Laboratories was established in 1894 and has been testing products for over one hundred years. The original mission of the UL was to protect the public by testing products for safety. Now many fire safes bear the UL Mark. Underwriters Laboratory is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization.
Once UL has evaluated a product it continues to check that product. Field representatives make periodic visits to each manufacturer. A product must continue to earn the rating that was given originally by UL. If a product no longer complies with UL's standards the UL mark is removed.
Many fire safes on this site are rated by the Underwriters Laboratory for fire resistance.
